The year 2024 marked significant milestones in global connectivity with median download speeds reaching 135 Mbps globally, fiber penetration exceeding 45%, and 5G fixed wireless emerging as a viable alternative in underserved areas.
Key findings include Asia-Pacific leading with 172 Mbps median speeds, Europe following at 148 Mbps, and North America at 142 Mbps. Fiber connections averaged 425 Mbps while cable achieved 238 Mbps and 5G home internet reached 195 Mbps.
Top performing countries: Singapore (268 Mbps), Hong Kong (261 Mbps), South Korea (251 Mbps), Switzerland (244 Mbps), and Denmark (235 Mbps).
